About

The Southern Arizona Transportation Museum fills part of Tucson's historic train depot on Toole Avenue downtown. Its bilingual exhibits trace the region's railroad history with old lanterns and original china and silver from first-class Pullman dining trains. Admission is free, and donations help keep the doors open. Southern Pacific steam locomotive 1673 sits outside, and the museum invites you to visit it any time. Kids tend to love the locomotive, which makes this an easy family stop downtown. It's closed Mondays and open Tuesday through Sunday, with longer hours on Fridays and Saturdays.
