Pima Prickly Park is a cactus and succulent garden on West River Road, planted and looked after by the Tucson Cactus and Succulent Society. Most of the plants were rescued from development sites before they could be bulldozed. It is free and open from sunrise to sunset every day of the year. Leashed dogs are welcome, but there are no restrooms in the park itself. Volunteer teams care for each garden area, and some of the plantings are there to draw hummingbirds and butterflies. It is a slow, easy walk that gives you a close look at plants you usually pass at highway speed.
