Gates Pass Scenic Overlook sits on Gates Pass Road inside Pima County's Tucson Mountain Park. The county describes it as a popular lookout and an excellent place to watch and photograph sunsets. There is no fee to drive up, park and take in the view. The overlook has interpretive displays, historic structures, picnic tables, a shelter and restrooms. Trails start right from the parking area if you want to stretch your legs. Plan to drive out before 8 p.m., when the gates are locked for the night and cars can't leave.
