Sentinel Peak Park ("A" Mountain)

Sentinel Peak Park, better known as "A" Mountain, rises just west of downtown and looks out over the whole city. Along the way you'll find hiking trails, a walking path, picnic tables and signs about local history. There is no entry fee, and the park is open from sunrise to sunset. Cars can drive up Tuesday through Thursday from 2pm and Friday through Sunday from 11am, and Mondays are kept car-free for walkers and cyclists. Walking or biking up the road is a favorite workout, with a big view as the reward at the top. Bring water, since the park has no restrooms.
