About

Mission Garden is a living agricultural museum at the base of Sentinel Peak that tells 4,000 years of Tucson's farming history. It sits where gardens once grew beside Mission San Agustín, and it is run by volunteers with the nonprofit Friends of Tucson's Birthplace. Entry is free, and gifts are appreciated. From October through March it is open Wednesday to Sunday from 8am to 2pm, with shorter morning-only hours in the warmer months. Pick up a brochure at the welcome kiosk and wander past heritage fruit trees, heirloom crops and edible native plants. If you'd rather have a guide, tours can be booked ahead for a suggested $5 per person.
