Historic Downtown Glendale is made up of two neighborhoods, Old Towne and Catlin Court, about ten square blocks in all that you can walk in an afternoon. Catlin Court dates to 1914, and its bungalows with white picket fences and big shade trees now house specialty shops. Old Towne has brick-trimmed sidewalks and gaslights, with restaurants and more shops along the way. Walking around is free, and so is the covered parking at the Palmaire Parking Structure, 5835 W. Palmaire Ave. Catlin Court was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. The city's visitor site offers a downloadable walking map to help you move between the two districts.
