About

The Arizona Military Museum sits on the Papago Park Military Reservation in an adobe building put up by the WPA in 1936 and 1937. During World War II, when it was a motor pool, German prisoners of war worked on diesel engines inside. Admission is free, and donations help keep it running. Exhibits follow Arizona's military history from the Spanish conquistadors to modern conflicts, including displays on the Rough Riders, women in the military and a Vietnam room with a helicopter and a gun jeep. Hours are short: Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 in the afternoon, and the museum closes June through August. Enter through the main gate of the reservation off Bushmaster Boulevard.
