Veterans Oasis Park

Veterans Oasis Park is a 113-acre park in south Chandler that opened in 2008, with 78 of those acres built as wetlands for groundwater recharge. It has about 4.5 miles of dirt trails, a paved 0.4-mile path around a 5-acre fishing lake, and the Chandler Nature Center. Walking the trails, watching wildlife and joining the monthly bird walks cost nothing. Fishing needs a license bought ahead of time, and canoes and kayaks need a boating permit from the nature center. The lake is stocked about every two weeks from mid-September through May, so the cooler months are the time to bring a rod. There's also a butterfly and hummingbird habitat and the Field of Honor veterans memorial.
