Fernando Mendez grew up in Oaxaca and opened this South Sixth Avenue bakery in 2019, fixing up the space with help from his family. The cases fill with conchas, cajeta empanadas and doughnuts finished with a family glaze recipe. Tortillas are handmade, and there's Mexican candy by the register. It opens at 5 a.m. on weekdays, so early birds get the best pick.
