The Sugar Bowl opened on Christmas Eve 1958, and the pink-and-white room still looks the part, right down to the pink vinyl stools at the soda fountain. Jack Huntress started it, his nephew bought it in 1985, and a third generation of the family runs it now. Look for the original Family Circus cartoons by the checkout. Cartoonist Bil Keane lived nearby in Paradise Valley and put the Sugar Bowl in several of his strips. Sundaes, ice cream sodas and banana splits are the reason to go. There are burgers and sandwiches too, so you can call it lunch.
