This public star party is a makeup date for a September gathering that was rained out. Volunteer astronomers from the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association set up several advanced telescopes within the park to view planets, nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters. It is free to attend beyond the park's own entrance fee, and knowledgeable volunteers are on hand throughout to guide the viewing and answer questions. The rugged peak silhouette makes for a dramatic backdrop as the sky darkens into a genuinely dark setting for stargazing.
