Volunteer astronomers from the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association set up several telescopes at a picnic area inside Tucson Mountain Park, taking advantage of some of the darkest skies close to the city. Attendees can look through a variety of telescopes at planets, nebulae, galaxies, star clusters, and more, with volunteers on hand to guide the viewing and answer questions. It sits right next to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, making the western side of town an easy destination for an evening under the stars. The event is free but space is limited by registration, so signing up ahead of time is the only way in.
