Across several fall weekends, a mountaintop ski resort hosts a free Oktoberfest with live music, beer, and food vendors at a cooler elevation above the desert floor. Parking carries a small fee. Visitors gather at picnic tables and open lawns with steins and pretzels while a band plays through the afternoon, framed by pine trees rather than the desert scenery found below. The temperature drop and mountain setting make it feel like a different state entirely, a short drive from downtown Tucson. It's a popular fall outing for anyone craving cooler air and a change of scenery.
