Pitmasters from around the region fire up their smokers for a sanctioned barbecue competition in the heart of a historic downtown. Entry is free, and tasting tickets let visitors sample the competitors' work. Smoke rolls off grills loaded with chicken, ribs, pork and brisket. Bluegrass bands play, local vendors set up shop, and a beer garden keeps things easy. It feels like a big backyard cookout. Food lovers, families and anyone who likes good brisket will find plenty to enjoy.
