This celebration honors Native American Heritage Month and the long bond between Native peoples and the animals of the natural world. It is put on by a wildlife rescue center and its feather repository. The day opens with a blessing of the eagles, where live eagles are present while sacred sage is burned. Native dancers, singers and drummers perform after the blessing, and Native artists sell jewelry, beadwork, carvings and baskets. Visitors can see eagles, hawks, owls and falcons up close and watch a raptor flight show. The mood is respectful and festive. It suits families, art lovers and anyone curious about Native culture and wildlife. Native foods, snacks and drinks are sold through the day.
